Series I Started in 2024

Hello readers! Happy Blogmas! I hope this holiday season is going well for everyone. As you guys know, this year is a bit different for me, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good.

Today, I wanted to tell you guys the series I started in 2024. I didn’t think I’d even have enough to make a post about it because I haven’t read much in 2024, but I was WRONG. If there is one thing I’ll always do, its starts a ridiculous amount of series.

I’m also going to let you guys know if I’ve continued or if I even plan to in the future.

The first series I started was Ice Planet Barbarians. I read 3 of the books, and 3 of the novellas. To be honest, I was enjoying these so much until book 3.

I’ve mentioned it before in the past, but the third book has the topic of infertility in it and I really do not like the way it was handled. I don’t like that the infertile woman was talked about as if she was broken and how that whole thing was resolved in the end.

I went ahead and read the novellas that went with that book and I really didn’t like that one either. So, this is the end of that series for me. These books were fun while they lasted and I honestly don’t regret trying them at all.

I remember randomly picking this one up because it matched the buzzwordathon for that month and I absolutely didn’t like it at all.

Katee Robert is so hit or miss for me. As I didn’t like this book, I won’t be continuing.

It’s a very short book, like less than 100 pages, that is all smut and no plot. I’ve enjoyed books like that in the past, but I don’t think they are a type of book I really enjoy overall.

Please do not take my word on this book. Literally, the average rating on Goodreads is 4.31. It’s super high. But, it was just a miss for me.

I don’t know if I was just in a terrible mood in January or what it was.

This is a vampire book, but it actually follows a human in the world of vampires who wants to prove herself to them.

It has everything I usually like in a book, but I just couldn’t get into it at all. I do think it was just me, so maybe I’ll try to reread it one day in the future. Who knows?

This one follows a woman who sets off on a ship to go to another planet with a college she wants to attend.

Before she lands, the ship she is on is invaded by aliens and she is the only person who can see or understand them

This book was okay. I might continue because the books are so small. But, it just felt like it was missing something. It wasn’t a favorite or something I didn’t really like either.

Red Rising was honestly such a roller coaster for me cos I LOVED it until about halfway through. The setup was SOOO good.

This one follows Darrow, who is a red. There are different color class systems with gold being the highest. Unbeknownst to the reds, they are slaves. They live underground and have been trying to colonize Mars for a long time, but they don’t know that people already live on Mars.

Eventually, Darrow poses as a gold to take down the system. Once he was in the world where he was gold, I kind of lost interest. I just didn’t like where the story was going.

The Flavor Hacker series was such a fun one to start this year. It only has the one book so far and I don’t know when we will see book two or how many books its going to be.

If you love foodie books and scifi, this one is worth reading. It’s also sapphic, but the romance isn’t a huge part of the story. I loved reading this one and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one.

I’ve now read 3 books in the Cupcake Bakery Mystery series and I like it okay. I don’t mind giving 3 stars to cozy mystery series because they always get better as you go. But this one is kind of getting dull for me.

Will I continue this one? I honestly don’t know. I might try out some different foodie cozy mystery series to see if I like it more. I haven’t read that many of them and they are so hard to find.

We will just have to see if I come back to it or not in the next year.
