New Year’s Resolution Book Tag

Hello readers! It’s time to do another book tag. This is one I’ve never done before! I always do the New Year’s Book Tag, but never the resolutions one. So, here we are.

This tag was created by two fellow WordPress Bloggers, Embuhleeliest and Brown Eyes Musings. So, make sure to check out their posts!

I have 5 coffee table books and one is this Stephen King Illustrated Companion I found in a half price books once.

This is a book about King’s life and has some behind the scenes stuff about his different books. I’ve flipped through it a few times, but I’ve never read it front to back or anything.

Do you guys have coffee table books, and if so, do you keep them on a coffee table? Mine are just on the one shelf they fit on in my room.

I got this from my dad for Christmas when I was 19. The following year, he died, so I didn’t want to get rid of it. And I never thought I would read it, either.

One random day in December 2019 I decided to pick it up and read it for 12 solid days. It is literally 1200 pages!

But I don’t regret giving it a read. I learned through this book that I really love French classics, no matter how long winded they may be. It’s honestly that long because it gives a ton of backstory of the political climate from when the book takes place. Is that necessary? Maybe not, but I still loved it.

I have started this book and I’m over 100 pages in, but I’ve been 100 pages in for a really long time.

Washington: A Life is a biography on the first president of the US, being George Washington. It’s a very interesting read, but it is over 900 pages of nonfiction.

I’d like to read a book by or about every single president, in order if service. And I have a book about Washington and John Adams, and another book by Thomas Jefferson, as I’d like to read an autobiography if possible.

If I ever plan to read a book about every single president, I really do have to make some progress on this one at some point.

Probably my most read book of all time is A Christmas Carol. Writing this is making me want to reread it again (I am writing before Christmas).

This story is just so good and important. It’s never too late to choose to be different.

It’s also a discussion about rich people judging poor people and having all this wealth that they could share, but don’t. The true victims are their workers who can’t put food on the table or to simply buy their kids Christmas gifts.

I hope to read a ton more retellings of this in the future as well because I also love those.

My favorite one is the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, which I also should rewatch this year! It’s an older (and very long) movie, but it’s so worth it.

I bought this warrior cats box set on Amazon for 50 bucks! It is the first two series out of 13 or so? I’m not sure. But my daughter LOVES this series right now, so I bought it for her for Christmas.

It’s currently 70 dollars on there, so I think I got an amazing deal for 50 bucks. I’m waiting for the next set of 12 to drop in price so I can get those next. There are no joke nearly 80 books in this series, so it’ll take me a hot minute to get them all.

To be honest, right now my shelves are ALL OVER the place. I am planning on building some onto my wall in early 2025. But for now, I have middle grade together on four shelves, one shelf that is just random romance and thrillers because it’s mostly filled with kpop albums, one shelf of YA, one of spicy romance, one of fantasy, and one of Brandon Sanderson.

My TV stand has Sophie Kinsella and YA series like Twilight, Vampire Academy, etc., I have a manga/graphic novel shelf, a stack on the floor of random things that didn’t fit anywhere else, and a very large stack in my closet of non-fiction and classics. I still have PC Cast and most of my Stephen King books outside in the garage because there is nowhere to put them.

You guys, I almost broke my closet shelving this last week! I brought in a bunch of books from the garage and thought I could put it on the closet shelf. I got about 14 big books in before the entire shelf shifted and almost collapsed. I fixed it, though! I will not be putting any 500+ page books back on that shelf again.

Well, it took me nearly a year to read Battle Royale. I finished it this month and started it all the way back in January.

If we are only counting adults books without any graphics to them, I would say I can read a 300 page book in about 4 hours if I really sit down and do it. I’ve only done that a couple of times, though.

The last book I read that was unputdownable was The Family Experiment. When I wasn’t reading this book, I was thinking about reading it. John Marrs has such thought provoking thrillers with so many twists and turns that I can’t help but read it as quickly as possible.

I would also say The Family Experiment! I only had three or so that I really loved this year, so it wasn’t hard to choose. Check out my favorites of 2024 post!

I actually don’t know of a whole lot of books that come out this upcoming year, but I am really excited for Adrifts in Currents Clean and Clear. I didn’t love the book that came before this one, but I’m excited to see how the series ends.

I’m not sure! I’d love to say Words of Radiance. That’s the longest book I own that I haven’t read.

BUT I think I’ll actually pick The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I’ve wanted to get to this one for YEARS now. I haven’t even read many classics in the last few years, so I’d like to rectify that in 2025!
