December, the readathon is the whole month and there are 12 prompts to follow, but honestly I didn’t pick a book for each. I think I’ll try to pick a few as we go because I’m not sure what to read for them. There is also a movie watch party set to happen that I really want to try to participate in.
The Reindeer Readathon was created by Booktuber Breakevan Books. This is a competitive readathon that I’ve done once or twice in the past and I just have to try again. Sign ups are allowed until the end of tomorrow.
Let me know if you’ve joined the Reindeer Readathon and what team you’ve been assigned to!
I can double up on Seasonathon but not the Reindeer Readathon.
Do you think Die Hard is a Christmas movie? I’ve never seen it before and I’d love to know what you think!
Merry Bookmas Readathon
The Santa Claus – Read a book with a reluctant hero

So, I wanted to reread The Heroes of Olympus books one and two next year so I can finish the series, but I decided I’ll just start the whole world over.
Percy is a reluctant hero at first, so I think this counts. I’d like to read through this series, Heroes of Olympus, and maybe even start the series that follows that one, too.
Jingle All the Way – Read a book with a family dynamic
For this one, I am also picking Percy Jackson. I was going to pick a much bigger fantasy book, but decided I’ll read it in January instead. I might even continue the series and read book two in that series. We will just have to see.
I’ll Be Home for Christmas – Read a book with a quest

I had to fit this book on here somewhere because I’m still reading it. I swear I will finish this book this month if it is the literal last thing I do.
I can’t take this book in 2025 with me. I did put it on hold on Libby for the audiobook to help me. I am mostly listening to audiobooks right now, so I know that will get me through it.
This is not a quest in the traditional sense, but there is a quest to be the last standing and I think that counts.
Elf – Make your favorite holiday treat and share a picture of it on social media or the discord
I kind of want to try out making something with peppermint. I love peppermint things. I don’t know what the treat will be, but I’ll think of something and I’ll post it here!
Die Hard – Read a controversial or polarizing book like a book that people seem to either hate or love since some people are adament the Die Hard is a Christmas movie and others are adament that it is not.

I have been hearing a lot about this one. It’s cozy mystery and food related, so I’m really excited to try it!
BUT, the average rating on Goodreads is 3.4. That is actually terrible. I really want to try it out though. I LOVE cozy mystery series and I haven’t read one in a really long time.
I just find it hard to find ones I’m interested in because I prefer they are foodie when I do get to them.
It’s a Wonderful Life – Read a book with alternate timelines or a time loop, for example The Midnight Library or Oona Out of Order

The Ministry of Time follows a woman who is basically tasked with beta testing time travel.
That actually sounds like a job I would never want. It sounds so scary, actually.
I’m working on a project where I read some of the 2024 scifi books and this one has the most ratings, so I’m excited to try it out.
Nightmare Before Christmas – Read a spooky or spoopy book

This prompt is perfect because I really want to try a horror Christmas books this year. I love horror and I love Christmas, so I hope they’ll be good together.
I know this one takes place in the 80’s and follows a woman who gets a prank gift at the office gift exchange. The thing she receives is some type of haunted object and things take a turn for the worst.
Charlie Brown Christmas – Go to a local holiday concert or a tree lighting
I am not sure if I’ll be able to do this one, but I am attending a Christmas concert for my child next month. Does that count? I’ve never attended a tree lighting before, but I’d love to go to New York one year and experience it there.
A Christmas Carol – Read a book about second chances

This one follows a character named Eve who wakes up with no memory and has lost the ability to walk, talk, and write. During this book, she gains a new perspective on life as she relearns all the things she forgot.
Reindeer Readathon: Snowflakes Team
Dasher: Read a book that is recommended to you on social media

This one was a queer fantasy novella. People online say it’s unlike anything they’ve ever read before. It’s about angels and demons, and a city that burns.
They say it’s really beautifully written and worth the read. I have wanted to try this author for a long time, so I’m excited to try something short as an introduction.
Dancer: Read a book genre that you feel matches your favorite music genre

This cozy mystery series is also spicy, which is so interesting. I haven’t read one like that before, so I’m excited to try it out and see where it goes.
How am I making this about music? My favorite genres is kpop. And. I feel as though it’s such a small term, but it’s so much bigger than that. It bends genres of music. It combines English and Korean together. It was actually inspired by American music and Jpop.
And, this book is sort of a mix of genres. It’s a cozy mystery and a spicy romance in one. I’ve never seen something like that before.
Prancer: Read a book where the synopsis mentions a named special event/date.

This is the last book in the Mr. Lemoncello series. This series takes place in libraries, centers games, and are such fun reads.
The event mentioned here is the final competition for one person to win the entire empire that Lemoncello owns. Sort of like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Vixen: Read a book you didn’t buy

I got Battle Royale for Christmas last year from my ex husband. He bought me 10 random books off my TBR and this is one of the ones that popped up.
Weirdly enough, he picked all LGBT and POC books by accident.
I really need to finish this book in 2024 if it’s literally the last thing I do. I’ll be watching the ball drop on New Year’s Eve while reading this book for sure.
Comet: Read a book that ends on the last digit of the date of your birth (Mine is March 29th)

WOW this was really freaking hard. Books just do not end in 9 at all.
I was looking at my Goodreads and found Family of Liars, which I do happen to own. So, it would be a win to get it off my physical TBR.
This is a prequel to We Were Liars, which I LOVED when I read it. I think it follows a generation before the one we follow in We Were Liars. The description of the book isn’t very good, so I’m not fully sure. BUT, I’m excited to get to it.
Cupid: Read a book from an author you’ve already given 5 stars.

One of my favorite authors is Sophie Kinsella. BUT, I haven’t read any of her books in a long time. I have no excuses even because I own two of them that I haven’t read.
This isn’t one I own, but I thought it would be a short and moving book that just came out this year. This one seems sort of like a literary type romance.
Donner: Read a book where the cover contains one of the first 4 words you see in the word search grid.

Let me know what words you guys saw first! I saw FOREST, LIGHTNING, BATTLE, and FLOWER.
That is sort of how Percy Jackson landed on this TBR. I was thinking of rereading it the other day starting in 2025, but heck, let’s start early!
I don’t usually reread books, but I am in the mood to reread a lot of series right now. It’s so weird for me, but I’m excited! Who knows, this may turn me into a rereader.
I just realized it said the word has to be on the cover, not in the title, but we have both, so it’s okay.
Blitzen: Choose 3 books that start with the same letter, randomly choose one to read.

I decided to go with S because Secret Santa was on my TBR and Service Model is one I need to read for my scifi project. Summer at Squee was just a random one I wanted to get to this year and we ended up with Secret Santa.
Rudolph: Read a debut novel.

One that was on my previous TBR is The Ministry of Time. It’s also on the GCA category for debut novel.
I am both worried and excited. It has the most ratings of all the scifi books on there, but it also has a pretty low average rating. So, this one can go either way.
