Hello readers! It’s time for a book tag. This one is the I Dare You Book Tag. No one seems to know where this tag came from or who created it, so if you know, feel free to tell me and I’ll tag them.
Also, Happy Thanksgiving if you’re American! I hope everyone spends it with family. Everyone deserves to spend Thanksgiving with someone.
What book has been on your shelf the longest?

I’ve mentioned this a few times, but I have this Book of the Month edition of Little Women that I’ve had nearly my entire life.
It was published the same year I was born, I think even a few months before I was born.
What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next?

What book did everyone like, but you hated?

I honestly do not get the hype around Cassandra Clare. I’ve read this entire series and I have so many issues with it.
I wish I loved it the way everyone else does, but I just don’t.
What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?

I’ve owned this book for 4 years now and I keep telling myself I’ll read it, but I don’t think I will.
I tried a chapter of it the other day and it just doesn’t interest me enough. I’d like to try this author down the line for a different book, but this one is one I don’t think I’ll ever get to.
What book are you saving for retirement?

I would say anything by Stephen King. I own so many of his books, and I haven’t read so many of them. The Stand is one I’m afraid to read because I’ve heard it’s cursed.
Have you guys heard of this? There is this curse where people will read this book and get sick. I’ve even seen it happen to influencers, which is so weird.
Last page: Read it first or wait until the end?
I used to read the last line of a book before I started it, but I literally can’t remember why. I wouldn’t do this now. BUT I have had a habit of looking up spoilers of books. I just can’t wait to learn things sometimes!
If I think a character I really like might die, I am on Google looking it up. I can’t take the suspense!
Acknowledgement: waste of paper and ink or interesting aside?
I understand why they are important. They would never be a waste of paper! This section of a book is for the writer and their circle. It’s fine if not every section of a book is for everyone.
I bet it would feel very special to make it onto the dedication page of a book, especially if you put a lot of work into the process of making the book.
Which book character would you switch places with?

I would say any main character of a foodie cozy mystery series. I would love to bake goodies and solve crime. And these characters always have a little animal companion and a community of supporters of their businesses.
Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life?

My aunt used to take my cousin and I to the library around once a month and drop us off there all day. When we’d leave, we would get some Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.
We would then sit together and read the book at the same time while sitting next to each other. I don’t know why we never read it out loud or anything, but we wouldn’t.
This is a series I’ll never stop reading because it reminds me of times like that.
Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.

About a year ago now I received Tress of the Emerald Sea as my first book a follower sent me.
People on the internet can be so kind at times!
Have you ever given a book away for a special reason or to a special person?
The only giving away of books I’ve done is taking books to Little Free Libraries. I don’t think I’ve given my own copies of books to anyone because I would just buy that person a copy of the book.
Which book has been with you the most places?

When I went on vacation to Florida when I was 14, I took a few books with me. And one was Twilight.
We actually drove there, so it’s been in Indiana, where I live, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and all the way down to Ft. Meyers, Florida.
I also took a book called Velocity by Dean Koontz, but I don’t have a single book by him anymore.
Any required reading you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad a few years later?

One book I really disliked when I read it in school was Animal Farm. I then listened to the audiobook around 5 or 6 years later with my huband and it wasn’t so bad.
Another was Lord of the Flies. I really didn’t like it in school, but then bought and read it as an adult and enjoyed it a bit.
I really love the retelling of it called Lord of the Fly Fest and I’d love to read more retellings of it in the future.
Used or brand new?
I LOVE used books. As a matter of fact, most of the books I own are used. I buy most of them from Better World Books, but I also used to live pretty close to a Half Priced Books and aquired quite a few from there.
I’ve also attended quite a few book sales ran by libraries. You can find quite a few gems there!
I am just a bargainer at heart. So, I’d rather see how many books I can get with the same amount of money I could buy a brand new book with.
Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?
Yes! This is such a random question, lol.
Anyhow, I’ve read Angels and Demons, DaVinci Code, and Digital Fortress.
Have you ever seen a movie you liked more than the book?

Yes! I watched the movie for The DUFF and thought it was hilarious! That movie was genuinely so good.
I then bought the book and HATED it. The book is so different and I just didn’t like it at all. So, if you read this and didn’t like it, try the movie instead.
Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry?

Honestly, I read a lot of books that center food. I love baking, so I love to see characters baking.
Well, I only read about 4 books in this series, but one thing I liked about it was that it had actual recipes in the book.
Every time this character would bake something, the author would tell us how to bake it. I wish I actually did bake along with the books back then! That would’ve been a fun treat.
Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?
In all the years I’ve been in the book community, I’ve never found one person who had extremely similar book tastes to me. I personally prefer those reviewers in the community who can really give the reasons they liked and disliked a book, so I know if I’ll like it.
I take everyone’s opinions into account because I don’t want to discount someone because they’ve liked a book I didn’t.
Is there a book out of your comfort zone that you ended up loving?
Yes! I have had so many. I don’t like to say that I’ll never read certain genres because of this. I used to say I hated romance, that isn’t the case, I used to say I didn’t like thrillers, and now I read them all the time, and I’ve even said I don’t like scifi before finding scifi books I like.
I do have some that I am 100% sure I’ll never like, for instance splatterpunk, but I can usually find something in every genre that I love.
