Hello readers! It’s Thursday and time for another tag. This one centers books that I want to read, but I’m also reluctant to read at the same time. I think we all experience this at one time or another.

A book you feel the need to read because everybody talks about it

Everyone I have seen read Delilah Green Doesn’t Care has loved it and that’s why I got myself a copy this time last year.
I know it’s a romance and it has the grumpy sunshine trope, but other than that, I have no idea what it’s about. I just know that everyone loves it.
I also don’t think I’ve read enough F/F romance, so I definitely need to give the ones everyone loves a chance.
A book that’s really long

The longest book on my physical TBR is Words of Radiance. I want to read it because I know I’ll love it, but it’s a big commitment to read an over 1k page books.
And, I can’t read this book on audio at all because I was so lost when I tried to read book one that way. I listened to over 300 pages worth of the first book and I was lost. So, I bought the actual book and physically read the whole thing from the beginning.
It took me well over a month to get through book one. So, I know this one will take me just as long as it is actually longer.
A book you own and have had on your TBR for a long time

This is one I know I’ve owned since I 2018 or 2019. I’ve always wanted to read it, but I’m never in the mood for it.
I do remember seeing the movie a while ago, but I don’t fully remember everything about it.
I just remember it’s about the government burning books and different people who are passionate about preserving books will pick one book each to memorize from cover to cover.
A book that was required reading

I feel like I’m the only person on earth who likes classics, but doesn’t like the Bronte sisters. I read this one in high school and even reread it as an adult to see if my mind changed. It didn’t.
All the characters were so aggravating and unlikeable. I couldn’t stand reading the book when I did. This is coming from a person who enjoyed most the required reading I had in school.
A book that intimidates you

I’ve been thinking about trying to read Leviathan Wakes for a while now, but I am so worried I might not like it. I always like to challenge myself to read books I don’t think I’ll like.
But, this one is really, really long. Not just the books, but the whole series. Along with it being very well loved by readers. It’s also a space opera, which I haven’t gravitated toward for the longest time.
The thing is, even two years ago I thought I didn’t even like scifi in general. And, now I know I do. So, I don’t want to count any books like this out! Especially well loved ones like this.
A book that you think might be slow

I actually started this book once and it was very slow, but I still am going to try again to read it. This time, I might try to read along with the audiobook to help.
Slow books are so common in fantasy, but they are (most of the time) worth the read. I’m hoping to get to this next month, but we will have to see.
A book you need to be in the right mood for

I think that you need to be in the right mood for any classics that you crack open. I always try to research the literary era they are in beforehand.
I’ve read from this author before, so I know I’ll probably enjoy this book as much as Les Miserables. AND, it’s half the length. But, wow. This author can go on some tangents.
This book is of the romantic era, meaning that it is a bit exaggerative in the way everything is portrayed. But, it shouldn’t be nearly as dense as Les Mis.
A book your not sure you’ll like

This book sounds so good. It sounds like an adult book version of Coraline, but this is an author I’ve both loved and hated in the past. So, I worry I won’t really like it.
I’m thinking about reading it early in 2025 for a readathon, but I’m also worried I might dislike it. Either way, I’m really excited to give this author another try.
