Entire Kindle TBR

Hello readers! I have been working on this post for nearly 4 months, which has been WAAAAY too long.

You guys know if you’ve been here for a while that I make a post every 3 months where I update my entire physical TBR. I thought as I bought a lot of Kindle books in 2023 that I could make the exact same post, but only ebooks.

Some of these I have owned way longer than just 2023. I got my first Kindle in 2012.

I will not be counting any of my daughters books. I have found so many free ebooks for kids in the past year and chances are I will never actually read them, so I won’t show those.

Lastly, these will be in alphabetical order by the author’s last name and the blurb will come straight from Goodreads, which is exactly what I do for my physical TBR posts.

I ended up getting this one on a Stuff Your Kindle day because the author. I know this is a very popular romance author and I couldn’t pass it up.

Synopsis: Long ago, Elise’s ancestors stole the crown from the fae king. As the niece of the brutal, current king, her purpose is to do whatever is asked to ensure her family keeps the throne for centuries to come. The trouble is, Elise would rather sneak into gambling halls with the servants than be a silent princess at a ball. Soon reckless games are ended when her uncle forces her into negotiations for a marriage. If she refuses, her deathly-ill father will pay the price. Trapped by her sense of duty, Elise is given to the charge of Legion Grey, the handsome and mysterious dowry negotiator. But Legion holds more than her future in his hands. He incites her anger and a forbidden passion.

When a coup upends the kingdom, Elise flees with Legion, only to discover he holds more secrets than anyone. Unknowingly, Elise sets in motion a beastly curse Legion has endured as long as he can remember. As secrets unravel about Legion’s vicious past, questions rise over who has the true right to the throne. When answers come, more lives are put at stake, and Elise is forced to make an impossible choice: avoid a bloody game by leaving Legion to the beast within, or end his curse and restore magic to the land by sacrificing a life–hers.

Onyx is the second book in the Lux series and is also a book I’ve owned for a long time and need to read in 2024. I originally read book one is 2013 or so. Then, I reread it in 2019 to see if I was still into the series and I decided I would continue, and then never did.

Synopsis (book 1):Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

I think I got this one on a Stuff Your Kindle day, but I have no idea why I picked it. I have been (slowly) getting into monster romance, so that may be the reason.

Synopsis: I live my life in silence.Until them.

To save myself and my kingdom, I will have to play the part of their prisoner. Except I’m not playing anymore.

I’ll fill these monsters with every part of me and take what I want until there’s nothing left but me.

What happens when it’s all over? Will I want to go back to my life of silence or maybe…just maybe I like courting the monsters.

I’m in this thriller book club that I really haven’t read a book in for a while. But, at first we were all sharing free thriller books on Amazon that we would find and that’s how I found this book. This is how I learned of Bookbub, so I’m happy about that! If I have any other thrillers on this list, that book club is also the place I heard of it.

I read so dang many Christmas romances in the 2nd half of 2023 and just didn’t get to this one. I will absolutely get to it later this year when I’m reading them again.

Synopsis: Dear Santa,All I want for the holidays is a quiet weekend in Vermont, sipping eggnog with best friends and ogling ski instructors. Please don’t let Millie and Anya bring along their boyfriends to serenade me with the Carol of the Orgasms. And for the love of Christmas, pretty please don’t let them play matchmaker by inviting my ex-best-friend Henri Stone to crash the party with mistletoe in hand.Did you put me on the naughty list, Santa? Because Henri keeps smiling like he’s your elf … and he seems to want me to jingle his bells.Yes, I asked for gorgeous.Yes, I asked for fun.But I didn’t ask for Mr. Heartbreaker-of-the-Century, over whom I’ve foolishly been pining since high school. There’s a reason Henri and I don’t talk anymore. Trust me, even if Millie dresses me up in a naughty Mrs. Claus outfit, it won’t change the fact that I refuse to become Henri’s hot holiday ho-ho-ho.Santa, are you trying to ruin Christmas?I’m begging you, stop all this picturesque snow from falling. Henri and I shouldn’t be left alone with the power out, because one of us is going to burn down the holiday tree.

One thing I have been doing since joining Booktok is prioritizing reading and buying my mutuals books. I am mutuals with a ton of indie authors and Katherine Bichler is one of them.

Synopsis:Growing up in the caverns underneath the colosseum is anything but ordinary for a Roman teenager like Noemi. Helping her father train wild beasts for the emperor’s extravagant shows and being feted with romantic gifts from her noble fiancé, hers is a life few girls could imagine. But despite her good fortune, Noemi is beginning to doubt her upcoming wedding, which could threaten what she desires most—to train as a gladiator.

While Noemi loves the lions beneath the colosseum and the bloody shows above, her sister, Livia, is a contrast in extremes. If Livia can’t be an enviable Vestal Virgin in a garden temple, she’ll do the next best thing and use her charms to climb the social ladder, as high as the emperor’s palace on Palatine Hill. While Livia will stop at nothing to improve her social life, Noemi can’t stop her secret desires, nor her stealth training with swords. And then there’s Cato, a top-ranked gladiator who is keeping a risky secret of his own. Against Noemi’s better judgement, she finds herself drawn to this mysterious fighter, who has both a temper and an imperious reputation. Soon, Noemi, Livia and Cato find that keeping secrets is not just child’s play, but dangerous games with deadly consequences. Can they all fool the emperor long enough to avoid a date with the executioner?

This is another mutual of mine’s book that I haven’t gotten to yet. I am so bad about reading the books I actually own! When I’m looking for something to read, I usually lean toward my Kindle Unlimited TBR and I really need to take steps to stop doing that.

Synopsis: She wakes up in hospital, badly burned with no memory.

He’s been trained to kill her before she burns the world to ashes. When they finally meet, will he be able to take her life now that he’s started to feel for her?

His fate is already written. The prophecy is already set… Love between them is forbidden.

I decided to just add all of these together, despite them all being different authors. I ARC read Bound by Honey in 2023 and went on to read one other book in the series. Every time there is a Stuff Your Kindle Day, a few of the authors put books in the series up for free, and that is how I have snagged so many.

They are all different cozy fantasy romance novellas, written by different authors, and set in interconnected worlds. They can be read in any order and I happened to ARC read the last published book in the series.

New Horizon School is a book by one of my Booktok author mutuals Jymi Cliche. I think this is a middle grade book. But, I’m really not sure.

Synopsis: New Horizons School is an expression of the author’s experience as an LGBTQIA, 90s teen with severe mental health struggles and it is an advocate for people to accept themselves. The main character is a talented poet & artist with wisdom, depth, and humor, named Ren Anonymous. Ren struggles with addictions, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD. Most of the other characters struggle with similar issues but the kids at New Horizons School are accepted for who they are and are encouraged to express themselves freely. They learn to accept one another, as well. The environment that is created by the school’s unique style of therapeutic education helps the students to thrive and achieve things that no one ever realized they were capable of, including themselves.

I actually own this entire series on my Kindle. It’s a cozy mystery series centering food, which is my favorite kind. I haven’t read one in a long time and I really should this year!

Synopsis: They came to me in the dead of night. I should be used to ghosts, I’m a necromancer after all. But the three men who show up at my house aren’t the spiritual beings I’m used to. These Ghosts are part of a brotherhood so secret that they were thought to be a myth. When they ask for my help, I leap at the opportunity to aid these warriors.

But none of us expected my help to come with a price tag. Now our souls are bound to one another and unfortunately, being this close to each other secrets are starting to slip out. I can’t afford to have anyone know who, or what, I really am, but with a curse hanging over our heads and with someone suddenly after us we’ll have to stick close if we want to survive. With the Ghosts looking out for me, I should be safe… right?

This is a m/m Christmas romance that I didn’t get to last year. I read two Christmas m/m romances last year and I loved one and hated the other. This is another one I’ll definitely get to in the 2nd half of 2024 when I’m reading Christmas romances again.

Synopsis: Some wounds, only a monster can heal. I’ve always hated Christmas. With a name like Chris Kringle, it’s hard not to. It’s only gotten worse since I’ve been back from the war. Christmas is supposed to be jolly, but for me, it’s a grim reminder of past failures.

I need to get away from it. To be somewhere quiet. To heal. When I wake up in the South Pole after an accident to a Krampus tending my wounds, it feels like the perfect opportunity to get some much-needed R&R. Yet this gentle giant is so achingly sweet, I can’t help but fall for him, even though he’s a monster. But another, more sinister monster may be lurking much closer to home, and if we don’t hunt it down in time, this could be the last Christmas ever.

I honeslty forgot I even had this book on my Kindle. I have to have had this for around 10 years. I read the first two books in high school and this is book three. Will I ever read it? I honestly don’t know.

I keep trying to unhaul the first two books, but I always stop myself. I don’t even remember anything about this series and I would absolutely have to reread the whole series to get to this one.

Synopsis (book 1): Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel. For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Madame Bovary is a classic that is honestly on the top of my TBR (as far as classics go). I haven’t read a classic in a long time, but this is honestly in my top two that I will read when I’m in the mood for one.

Synopsis: Seven years ago, the incomparable Lydia Davis brought us an award- winning, rapturously reviewed new translation of Marcel Proust’s Swann’s Way that was hailed as “clear and true to the music of the original” (Los Angeles Times) and “a work of creation in its own right” (Claire Messud, Newsday). Now she turns her gifts to the book that defined the novel as an art form.

When Emma Rouault marries dull, provincial doctor Charles Bovary, her dreams of an elegant and passionate life crumble. She escapes into sentimental novels but finds her fantasies dashed by the tedium of her days. Motherhood proves to be a burden; religion is only a brief distraction. She spends lavishly and embarks on a series of disappointing affairs. Soon heartbroken and crippled by debts, Emma takes drastic action with tragic consequences for her husband and daughter.

Twice Tempted is the sequel to Once Burned. Once Burned was the first ever book I read by this author, but also was my first introduction to spicy books when I was 19. I honestly did not know books like this even existed at that age, so that was a surprise to me.

Synopsis (book 1): After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person’s darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude…until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world’s most infamous vampire…

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don’t call him Dracula. Vlad’s ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

This is the 8th book in the Night Huntress series and the above book was actually a spin off of this series. I recently bought this book in December and am hoping to once again finish this series. I keep thinking the series is over and then the author publishes new books.

This is one of those books that is the same story but in the perspective of the love interest. I am not that excited about it because of that, but honestly I’m still going to read it at some point this year.

Tanya Lynn is another mutual of mine on Booktok. I love her videos and her Christmas tree shifter book I read in December. I love the weird books like that and I knew I had to try more from her.

Synopsis: This heartwarming story has beckoned generations of readers into the special world of Green Gables, an old-fashioned farm outside a town called Avonlea. Anne Shirley, an eleven-year-old orphan, has arrived in this verdant corner of Prince Edward Island only to discover that the Cuthberts—elderly Matthew and his stern sister, Marilla—want to adopt a boy, not a feisty redheaded girl. A much-loved classic that explores all the vulnerability, expectations, and dreams of a child growing up, Anne of Green Gables is also a wonderful portrait of a time, a place, a family… and, most of all, love.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.
