Alli the Book Giraffe

Hello readers! It has been a LONG time since I talked about reading. Well, what I am currently reading at least.

I’m ready to start getting myself out of this slump, so I thought we could talk about what I was in the middle of reading and what I plan on reading soon.

I thought about doing a WWW Wednesday, but I don’t want to talk about what I read last, so we are doing everything except that.

However, I do think I’m going to do a TBR for May. I’m kind of in the mindset of manifestation right now, so I feel like making a TBR will give me motivation to read.

Currently Reading:

The Fury was sent to me out of nowhere by Celadon. I have now read 30 pages and I’m liking it so far. They sent it to me as an ARC, but it arrived 2 or 3 weeks post publication.

This is an author I’m on the fence about, to be honest. I read The Silent Patient by him and loved it, and then read an ARC of The Maidens on Netgalley and hated it. I DNF’d that book.

This one takes place on an island. There was some type of murder or murders that took place and the narrator is telling us about each person who was there and what happened. We don’t know who was murdered or who killed them, but I know we’ll find out.

This one came out on February 13th. It is a sequel to Tainted Truths. It follows Chelsea and Ben. Ben gets a call that his ex wife Chelsea has been in an accident.

Once he reaches her at the hospital, he finds that she doesn’t remember him. And, they start a new relationship. But, he is keeping his distance a little because she is the one who broke it off before.

It’s a thriller with some spicy romance, and some crazy twists toward the end. This one wraps up the events of book one. I’ve read more than half of it, I just had a hard year and quit reading.

Becoming Mallory came my way when I saw that it had autism rep. I wanted to start trying to get more ARCs with autism rep in them.

This one is amazing. It follows Laura who has an autistc daughter named Mallory. We follow Laura during pregnancy along with the different stages of Mallory’s life. And how she thinks Mallory is autistic, but really struggles to have a support system to encourage her.

I love this representation. It really shows many different versions of ableism. And how magical and different autistic kids can really be.

Battle Royale follows 40 teens who are put on an island together to kill one another until there is only one left. Very similar to Battle Royale mode in Fortnite. As a matter of fact, I think that game is inspired by this book.

But, this story is much more violent. I am really enjoying it and hope to finish it VERY soon.

Reading Soon:

Another sequel ARC that I need to get to soon.

This one follows a big group of people trying to get into this assassin school. We follow them before the school and during. It’s a little spicy with a black badass FMC lead.

This is the follow up and it came out on February 29th, so you know I’m super behind right now.

Space For More is yet another sequel ARC I had. I know it came out in February, but I don’t remember when.

It follows the roommate of the FMC in book one, which is the four armed alien on the cover. It’s a three person romance, as you can see. Alien romances with plenty of spice and SO MANY plus size characters! This one even has a male plus size character, which is honeslty so hard to come by.

Lastly, I hope to get to all the Brandon Sanderson books. I own 5 now that I haven’t read in the Cosmere, and I also need to read The Lost Metal. I just cannot accept myself abandoning my challenge to get through most if not all the Cosmere in 2024.
