Would You Rather Book Tag

Hello readers! It’s time for a book tag. I am actually surprised I haven’t done this tag before. I’ve done the Spooky Would You Rather Tag and the Hardest Would You Rather For Book Nerds Tag, but not this one.

I have seen so many versions of this tag on here and Booktube, so I’m going to mix two together. The first 10 questions came from Rachel Reads and the final 8 came from Megan’s Reading Revelation.

Read only trilogies or stand alones?

I would say stand alones. I’m more of a long series kind of person. I always find at least one book in a trilogy is just not as good as the others.

Read only female or male authors?

Female authors. Over time, I have read more and more female authors and don’t mind it much. Not many male authors can write a good female character.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some male authors I like, but if I had to pick, it would easily be the women.

Shop at Barnes & Noble or Amazon?

This one is EASY. I would pick Amazon. First of all, indie authors make more money on the copies they sell through Amazon than Barnes and Noble’s company. From what I’ve heard these authors will make 4-5 dollars per copy through Amazon versus pennies through B&N.

Also, Barnes and Noble prices are ridiculous! I lived near one at my last apartment and honestly wouldn’t shop there over going online. Prices are WAAAY too high.

All books become movies or TV shows?

TV shows. I just don’t think adaptations are done as well in movies. I mean, if a book is super plot driven like a thriller, sure a movie is perfect, but most books are character driven and that just can’t be done as well through a movie, in my opinion.

Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

I have to pick 5 books per week because 5 pages at one time sounds like torture. Why not a whole chapter a day? That would be fine, but it could take you 2-5 days to get through one chapter at that pace. 😂

Be a professional reviewer or author?

Both of those sound like a lot of pressure! But, I would pick author. I wanted to be an author as a kid, and before everything became so chaotic in my life this year, I was hoping to publish my own book.

I have written quite a few stories/books, but this particular one is one I’ve worked on for about 10 years. It is a fae story. Not like ACOTAR fae, but like cute fae. I would not be an author of spice. I just don’t think I could do it, not that it’s bad or anything.

I would say the book I have mostly written is in-between middle grade and YA. Well, maybe one day I’ll publish. It was a dream of mine from around 12 years old, to be honest.

Only read your top 20 favorite books over and over or always read new ones that you haven’t read before?

You guys know me, I’d rather read only new books. I do like to reread books once its been a really long time and I don’t remember the story, but in general I like to read new stories.

I don’t know how to explain it. I really enjoy seeing what will happen next in a story. And, I can’t get that aspect from a story I’ve already read. A reason that I also read books so quickly is that getting to the end is my favorite part.

I’m not saying I never get to the end of a book and wish it would keep going, but I usually love to see how everything wraps up.

Be a librarian or book seller?

Some of you may know this already, but I actually went to college to be a librarian. I was going to be a specialist. There are three types of librarians; school, public, and specialists.

I am just not the best with people or customer service, so I thought if I could become a librarian, it would be an archivist or something like that.

Only read your favorite genre, or every genre except your favorite?

I would say every genre except my favorite because I need many different genres to keep going. If I read a genre more than 3 times in a row, I am going into a slump. I don’t even know what I would say is my favorite genre. I like some more than others of course, but I don’t know what is my favorite.

Only read physical books or eBooks?

This is a hard one! I really love both.

I have to pick physical books. I recently in the past year have been reading a lot of ebooks, but in general I love physically owning and holding a book in my hands. I love the smell of books and the big floppy paperbacks. I would miss that if I chose ebooks for sure.

Would you rather read a book with a huge cliffhanger or one where your fav character dies.

The easiest way to get a 5 star from me is to make me cry, so I have to pick killing off a character. I’d rather never read a cliffhanger again, to be honest.

The books that are emotionally devastating are my favorite! Those are the ones I’ll be thinking about weeks or months later. They really stick with me and so I welcome the character death.

Would you rather have dinner with your favorite author or favorite character?

I would have to say favorite character. There are so many good characters out there that I’d love to spend just one day with.

Would you rather live in a sci-fi novel or a fantasy novel?

Am I getting to pick which specific book?

I would never pick a sci-fi novel. Scifi worlds are SCARY. There is either a parasitic alien, the corrupt government, or killer robots to worry about in those books.

Don’t get me wrong, there are plent of scary worlds to live in for fantasy books to, but I think I’d have a better chance of not being killed in a fantasy world.

Would you rather visit any fictional world for an hour or only one fictional world for as long as you want to?

I would have to pick the one world for as long as I want to. It would be more fun to really immerse myself in the world as opposed to just getting a little taste of it.

Would you rather dog ear pages or never be able to mark your spot?

I guess I’m going to have to learn to just remember the page or write it down because I’m not dog earring a book. I don’t want to damage my books or anyone elses!

Would you rather only be able to use the library to check out new releases or wait a year and buy them used?

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind doing either of these. Most of the books I own are used. Most of the time, I just listen to new releases on Libby, so I suppose I’d choose the library one. As long as Libby counts!

Would you rather read books with only open endings or happy endings?

I am not a fan of either of these choices. I don’t hate happy books or anything, but to ONLY read happy books sounds awful.

HOWEVER, open endings are the bane of my existence. So, I have to choose the happy endings one. I honestly go out of my way to find books with open endings so I know not to read them. I’m telling you, I can be really enjoying a book and get to that ending and it will ruin it for me. I don’t like the guessing games!

Would you rather only read unfinished series or series with a terrible finale?

I mean, reading a series with a terrible ending because that is subjective. I could end up enjoying the ending myself even if other people don’t. I just made a post last month about unfinished series. I have a hard time committing to a series that can’t even commit to itself. 😂

  3. What a fun tag. I think I’ve done a version of this but definitely not these questions. I would much rather lose a favourite character than have a cliff hanger I hate cliff hangers especially when you have to wait for a year or more to find out what happens.
