The Movie Tag

Hello readers! This week’s tag is one that doesn’t center books. Do you guys know if any more of these exist out there? I would love to do more that don’t center books.

HOWEVER, I have no idea who created this tag. But, I hope everyone else will do it because I there are only a few posts out there that I could find.

Just as a warning, this is a LONG tag. There are 50 questions, so grab a snack and strap in!

How often do you watch movies?

Uhm, to be honest, not that often anymore. In my early 20s, i would watch them nearly every day. But, now I’d say I watch a movie once or twice a month. I’m more of a TV show person these days.

Pre COVID I would see movies in theatres at least once a week and we would watch them at home all the time as well. There always used to be at least one movie that we were interested in and I think that the movie industry hasn’t really gone back to the way it was before.

What movie genre are you particularly fond of?

I don’t really gravitate toward genres like I do for books, but I would say thrillers. I always love watching a good thriller movie. I’ve also seen my fair share of terrible ones.

What was the last movie you watched and liked?

I forgot to tell you guys I watched this movie! It was called Talk to Me. It was this story where people could hold onto this weird mummified hand and become possessed. It was weird but good.

What was the last movie you watched and hated?

Uhm…. I’m not even sure. I looked at my last 10 Sunday Posts to even check if I forgot a movie and I couldn’t find one.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

I hate picking favorites! I could say Fight Club is one of my favorites. It’s hard to pick one favorite when movies are all so different.

Your fave guilty pleasure movie?

Little Nicky is a childhood treasure of mine. I LOVE this movie. I know, it is very offensive and objectively bad. But, I love it.

This is the movie that I have seen the most times in my life. When I was in middle school, I watched this movie at least once a day for over a year. I had it on VHS and continued to watch it way past the end of VHS tapes.

What movie/movies have you watched a million times already?

Well, Little Nicky.

I’ve also watched Kingsman about 1000 times.

The Lost Boys is another one. I LOVE 80s movies.

Fight Club is another one. I was OBSESSED with this movie in high school.

Are you the type who watches a movie on its first day of showing?

I used to do this pre covid. I went ot the movie theatre all the time. We saw so many movies not only on release day, but on the premier weekend.

Do you use fandango or prebook movie tickets?

I also used to do this pre covid. We had that AMC pass where you pay 40 bucks a month for 3 tickets a week, or something of that nature. We would always prebook tickets because it was the easiest way to do the pass. And, I could also buy a ticket for my daughter while I was at it.

Movie house, bluray, or download?

I assume movie house means the theatre? I personally prefer the theatre, but we haven’t gone much since 2020.

How often do you to to the cinema to watch a movie?

We go at least once a year now. There isn’t usually movies out that we are excited to see like there used to be 2019 and before.

We saw Super Mario Brothers last year in the theater and Scream 6. Which, I loved both, but I miss going as often as we used to.

What are the movies that made you cry?

Please watch this movie. Don’t even look up what it is about. It’s literally so amazing and it will break you.

Its on Peacock if you have that, but either way. PLEASE watch it. The book isn’t as good because the ending is a little different. In the book, the ending is kind of left open to interpretation and the movie gives you the whole ending.

Do you watch foreign films?

Of course! I love watching movies and shows made in other countries.

What are your favorite foreign films?

First would be Let the Right One In. This was eventually adapted in America, but the movie is called Let Me In.

It follows a young boy named Oskar who gets this crush on his new neighbor. What he doesn’t know is that she is a vampire, and the man who he thinks is her dad is her partner.

Such an amazing film! And, it is Swedish for anyone wondering. I’ve never seen any other Swedish movies. This one was on Netflix back when I was in high school and that is how I saw it.

Advertisements

One of my absolute favorite foreign films is the original Japanese Death Note movie. I actually saw this movie in theatre. They used to play movies like this in the theatre, only on weekdays and in a different city than I lived in. But, I always begged my mom to take me.

There ended up being 3 of these movies total and I would love to watch them again, but I really don’t know how to get my hands on them.

Parasite is this Korean horror movie following a family of poor people who all sort of scam their way into jobs at this rich families house.

The twist in this movie is jaw dropping. It was so good. It’s currently on MAX and if you haven’t see it yet, you should!

Honestly, any movies directed by Bong Joon-ho are *chefs kiss*.

Train to Busan is not your typical zombie movie. This is one of those sad movies disguised as a zombie movie.

If you have never watched a movie in another language, start here. It’s on Peacock, it’s on Netflix, and on Tubi. Tubi is free by the way, so if you don’t have the others, you can watch it free on there.

This is the type of movie that makes you deeply care for the characters before they are killed off. It’s honestly one of the best zombie movies I have ever seen.

Who are your favorite directors?

I think my favorite director is easily Tim Burton. Does he even make movies anymore? I miss Tim Burton’s movies.

Are you particular with movie scores/soundtracks/music?

I really love when a movie has music that goes well with the story.

What movie soundtrack can be found in your iPod?

I really have so many albums on my iTunes! I don’t really use my iPod anymore, but I’ll still tell you guys about it.

I was obsessed with Sweeney Todd as a teen and I absolutely have the entire album on iTunes.

It follows a man who starts killing people in his barber shop to get revenge on a man who stole his wife and son from him. And, the woman that lives below his shop makes the people into pies.

Have you guys seen this movie? It has to be more of a cult classic that I don’t think many people have seen.

It is a musical in this dystopian world where you can buy new organs. If you are poor, you can buy them on credit. And, if you don’t pay, they will come and take the organs back. Even if that means you die.

I also have the album for this movie on my itunes. I love this album more than the movie itself. I just always related to Alice. She is so different from other people. She doesn’t fit in, and I love that she doesn’t apologize for it.

Advertisements

One of the movies I listed as the most watched by me was The Lost Boys and one of the ways I obsessed over it was the music within the movie.

I even had Aint Got No Home that played during the bathtub scene. If you know, you know. That song is kitch.

Another one is Scott Pilgrim vs the World. This one is about a man named Scott Pilgrim who wants to date this manic pixie dream girl named Ramona. BUT, he has to literally defeat all her exes first.

This movie is crazy, but is a fun watch. And, I love all the music within the movie.

This is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. It is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet.

And, the song I listen to the most from this movie is America. When the women are talking about why they enjoy immigrating to America and the men want to go back to Puerto Rico.

Have you ever watched a movie alone at the cinema?

I honestly have not.

Is there any movie that’s changed your perspective on life?

I’m sure there are, but I can’t think of any.

Your favorite comic book movie?

Probably Deadpool. It’s action packed, funny, and also has great music!

Advertisements

DC or Marvel?

DC has a couple good movies, but Marvel has better movies overall. Their movies are funny, heartbreaking, and fun for the whole family. Something DC has tried to do, but just can’t.

What are the movies in the top 10 IMDB that you’ve watched?

See this list HERE.

I have seen 6 out of these 10 movies, which isn’t bad.

I have never see The Godfather. Is it worth the watch? Why is it 3 whole hours? And in the 70s that was super long for a movie.

I saw Shawshank Redemption in 2023 for the first time, actually. I haven’t read the story itself.

I’ve also seen The Dark Knight, the two LOTR movies, Pulp Fiction, and Schindler’s List.

Pulp Fiction is a TOP TIER movie. One of the best. Some say it doesn’t really have a plot, but I don’t really care. It’s still good. Also, I had the Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon as my alarm song for a long time.

I really do not like LOTR. These movies are too long and boring. I am probably going to offend so many people saying that, but still. I don’t like them. But, I do really like the Hobbit movies!

How can sit through 9-10 hours of Frodo? He is actually the worst character in this entire universe. I could not stand him AT ALL. That is probably why I don’t like LOTR in general.

Do you read movie critic reviews before watching a flim?

Heck no! I am a movie critic anti. I genuinely think they do not know what they are talking about. Some of the best movies I have ever seen were dragged to filth by critics.

Here is an IMDB page about this topic.

What’s the best movie adapted from a book?

The Giver. I have never seen a movie or TV show that did a book so well. They really understood the audience and the concept of the book. I feel like so many people who adapt books do not get the audience and what they love about the book. Then, they take everything good out of it.

The Giver was manifique.

Do you watch the movie before reading the book or vice versa?

I prefer to watch the movie/show first. I find watching the movie after to be unenjoyable most of the time.

If I really love a book and the adaptation does not capture my favorite parts of that book, I am just sitting there mad AF.

If I watch the adaptation first, I can read the book and just enjoy the differences. I can learn new aspects of the story in the book and reflect on the differences. But, the differences won’t make me upset.

What is your favorite comedy movie?

I don’t really like to pick favorites, but one would have to be date night. I haven’t seen it in such a long time, but it has to be one of those movies that I could not stop laughing, especially the pole dancing scene.

Favorite drama movie?

I HAVE to choose Atonement. Man is this movie so good. I don’t even want to say why. I went into this movie completely blind and I recommend everyone else doing the same. The impact is just better that way.

Advertisements

Favorite western movie?

I am honestly not a fan of westerns at all. That being said, I have seen a few. And, my favorite would be Gang of Roses. This is honestly making me want to watch it because I haven’t seen it since I was a kid.

Basically, it is about a female gang of bank robbers who come out of retirement to help one of the members who is in trouble.

I will say the IMDB score is like 2.5, so it might be bad! The reviews are saying it is historically accurate because of their skin color, but I don’t care about that.

Favorite romantic comedy?

I would have to say Crazy Stupid Love. This movie was hilarious and has a twist you will not see coming.

Fave horror?

I am honestly so sa we will never get to see another Scream movie. This most recent one was honestly the best of the series, but I picked the classic first movie anyways.

I love slashers, but this one is really unlike others as the villain isn’t supernatural in some way.

I was REALLY hoping that we would see Stu in the next one, but the creator of the film fired the main actress and then Jenna Ortega left. So, who would even watch them now that those two are out?

Fave sports movie?

Does the Sandlot count? I feel like I have seen many a sports movie, but I wouldn’t say I loved a lot of them. I’m just not a sporty person.

I played softball, basketball, and even was a cheerleader for a while. I didn’t play sports by choice as a kid, which only made me hate them more. I did love cheerleading, though. I just wasn’t as good at flips and stuff like other people.

Anyhow, Sandlot is such a classic movie! Do you guys like sports movies?

Fave scifi?

Oh my absolute favorite has to be the AI movie with Haley Joel Osmet and Jude Law. It follows a robot who this family buys to kind of replace their very ill son.

I may be baised cos I was in love with Haley Joel Osmet as a kid. He was one of my faves. Have you guys seen this movie? I don’t know many people who have. It’s an older one, but a good one.

Advertisements

Action movies?

I really do not like action movies, but I can also easily say that I love the Fast and Furious movies. I haven’t seen them all. I’ve probably seen like five or six of them, but would love too binge all of them one day.

We own some of them on DVD, but not all of them. They are action packed, but also emotional. And, I love that.

War movies?

I honestly have so many! One would be Atonement, but I didn’t want to say that movie again.

Another would be Imitation Game. This one is a true story and follows Alan Turing, an autistic, gay man who broke the Enigma code during WWII. He essentially created the first ever computer.

The Enigma code was this code that Germans used to tell each other secret messages for attacks and other things.

His story didn’t end happily. He was later jailed for being gay and he later took his own life. He saved so many lives and was jailed for his sexuality.

Who is your favorite movie couple?

I would have to say Jack and Sally! This is one of my favorite movies to be honest. I hope it can get a sequel one day for the Sally book that came out.

Sally was the only character in this world that had a lick of sense.

Any movie character you can relate to?

I would say Sheldon Cooper, especially the one in Young Sheldon. I have so many thoughts about this character and his autistic traits that the show will not just admit.

Even though he is mocked on occasion for his personality, I do think he is well loved by the people around him despite being very different from others.

If you were only to watch 5 movies for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Your Least favorite movie of all time?

I didn’t really enjoy this movie as a kid, so as I was forced to watch to 1000 times in that period, I got really sick of it.

If I ever have to watch Twister again it’ll be too soon. I saw there is a sequel or remake coming out this year and I will not be seeing that.

I think I could’ve learned to love this movie if I hadn’t seen it so many times.

Have you ever watched a movie based on the lead actor/actress only?

Yes! That is how I found Atonement. One of my favorite actors is James McAvoy. But, I also did this a lot as a kid with Johnny Depp and some others. I would order those DVDs through Netflix and watch all his movies.

I think Netflix still does the DVDs, but I haven’t ordered one since I was 19 or 20. Netflix was so different in the early 2010s.

What movie you expected and wanted to be good but failed you?

In 2017, Netflix put out an American version of Deathnote. And, I was HYPED. I loved this manga and the Japanese movies.

Then, I saw the movie. It was bad. Light’s character was just not the same. He wasn’t as calculated and self centered like he is in the original. I HATE that they made his relationship with Misa a romance. Sure, he was dating her, but he by far cared for her in any way romantically. Misa was enamored with him, but that was it.

Misa also did not look like Misa. She had a very specific look.

I have only ever seen this movie once, but it gets me heated every time I think about it. It’s so bad.

I also hate when they adapt a Japanese film and have no Japanese people in it.

Favorite movie character of all time?

I don’t even know! I can’t think of a favorite of all time.

Favorite movie villain?

I would have to say Ghostface! Honestly, the original two are pretty good, but the ones in movie four are also really good. I don’t want to spoil the movies for anyone.

Any movie sequel you’re still waiting on?

Despite the fact that Netflix botched Death Note, they did a really good job with Bleach. It actually was taken off of Netflix recently, but I was waiting for a sequel to this movie to come.

However, the director is the same one as that of Alice in Borderland, so I know he has also had his plate full with that.

I loved the vibe of the Bleach movie. I love that we focused on Ichigo and Rukia through the entire movie and we got to see Renji’s zanpakuto in action.

Bleach is my favorite anime series, so I was so happy to see this movie done well. But, equally sad that we may never see a sequel to it.

Ever made a movie review?

I honestly don’t think so. I do have a Letterboxd accout, but I don’t think I’ve left an actual review, only a rating.

Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars for sure. I have seen and own the newer movies of Star Trek, but I’ve never been into the shows or anything.

I haven’t seen any of the Star Wars shows except the first two seasons of Mandolorian.

Right now, think of any movie. What comes first?

Megamind! I actually just looked over at my movie shelf and picked the first one I saw. The only movies we have in the actual DVD cases are the kids movies. I’ve been curating my collection for a long time now.

I mean, some of them are my daughters, too. But, she doesn’t have an xbox or DVD player to watch our DVDs right now.

Favorite movie lines?

TV series, books, computer games, or movies in order of interest.

books, TV, movies, computer games. I haven’t played a computer game since I was a kid, to be honest.

When I was younger, I was more of a movie person, but now I’m more of a TV show person. I like really getting to know the characters and seeing a lot of story in one world.

Lastly, if your life story was to be made into a movie, who would you like to portray you? Who should be directing it? And, what would be the title?

I don’t know. I don’t think I look like any celebrities. I have been told my singing voice sounds kind of like Vanessa Hudgens, but we do not look alike.
