The Sunday Post #22 (Bringing an End to Blogmas and 2023)

Hello readers! Its the last day of 2023 and Blogmas! This is the first time I have successfully done Blogmas every single day in December. With a lot of planning ahead, it isn’t as hard as it seems.

Thank you for reading my posts! I am truly grateful for every single reader whether you read all my posts or just one.

It’s been a crazy year, but I’m looking forward to 2024. I think it’ll be much better than this one.

However, 2023 blogging has been really good! Well… the second half anyhow. There were 184 days from July to December and I posted 167 times during that period! I already have most of my posts planned until the end of March for 2024.

The Sunday Post and the thumbnail I’m using were created by The Caffeinated Reader. In The Sunday Post, you share news each week with your audience. This can be personal, book news, blog news, or anything else you want. Click the creator’s name for more details!

I managed (in the second half) to post more regularly on here than I ever have. I read so much as well! I read nearly 100 books from July to December.

I worked really hard to overcome my executive dysfunction and that is a big reason I’ve blogged so much. I have to do some extremely detailed planning every day and it’s exhausting, but it has been so worth it.

I also started Booktok, which has been so amazing. I had so many assumptions about it before joining that were just not true. I also quite Book Twitter. It was so toxic over there. AND, I started a book club. Sure, there are only like 10 people on it, but it’s still fun!

Life Update:

I spent the last week hyperfocusing on Ancestry. I have had this account for a long time, but I found a new leaf and that sent me down a 3 day long rabbit hole. I found out I am related to Charlemagne. Then, I continued to find him again and again. Seriously, like over 10 times. I lost count. Why did everyone just marry their family back then? That is so weird.

I also found a common ancestor between my husband and I, which was weird. It was like 12 generation back, though. I have a separate tree for him and one for my daughter as well for her birth mother’s side.

Other than that, I have been taking it easy after Christmas. I got Skyrim on the Switch from my BIL, which was the perfect gift. Our Xbox is outside in the garage, so I can’t really go out there and play it often. I can’t just leave my daughter alone in the house, so I only get to play at night. I don’t really want to spend my husband’s days off out there either as I’d rather spend time with him.

I love to play games, but I don’t play that many different ones. I got my switch in 2021 and only bought one game, which was Animal Crossing. I then got a Bratz game for Christmas in 2022 and now I have Skyrim. The only other video game I really love is Dishonored.

I like Assassin’s Creed, but the games are just too hard for me. What can I say, I’m a creature of habit.

I really liked making a calendar last month to show you guys what I was posting for the month, so I’m going to do it again at the bottom of this post! If you saw the last one, you know it did change a bit. I can’t promise this one won’t, but it should stay like 80-90% the same.

Reading Update:

Today I am trying really, really hard to finish Fourth Wing and Assassin’s Blade. If I do that, I’ll be super happy! My husband works until midnight tonight though, so I do have a plan to start The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson. I’m hoping to start 2024 off with a bang and read a ton! We will just have to see.

ARCs on my Shelf:

I was surprised to find this in my inbox! Arianna Isabella sent me an ARC copy on Christmas, but I didn’t notice for a few days. It is the sequel to Sins of the Shadows and comes out on Valentines Day.

What I Watched:

You guys may be surprised to hear I didn’t just watch Hell’s Kitchen this week! I mean, I did watch it, but not only that.

I also watched two episodes of One Piece, the live action. I have watched a bit of the anime, but not a lot. I really enjoy the show! I was watching it with my husband, but won’t be going forward. He said he just doesn’t care for stories centering pirates.
