Hello readers! It’s finally time to wrap up my reading goals for the year. I didn’t complete them all, but I think I did pretty well this year. At the end of the day, reading goals are just for fun.
CLICK HERE to see my post where I shared them with you! I also wrote quite a few update posts this year.
Goal 1: Goodreads Goal
Originally my goal was 150. I didn’t read much in the first half and I changed it a few times. It currently sits at 125 books and I have hit it! I think I’ll end the year with a little over 130.
Goal 2: Favorite Authors
This one was to read a favorite author every month. I’ve managed to do this one every month except 4 and that includes December. I’m hoping to finish off 2023 with a Brandon Sanderson book, so it will most likely be 3 months I didn’t do it. And, I think that is pretty dang good!
Goal 3: TBR Vets
I had a list of 20 books that have been on my TBR for a really long time that I wanted to either read of unhaul. If you want to see the list, check out my original post.
I managed to read one and unhaul nine. I mean, half isn’t great, but it’s better than zero, right?
Goal 4: Finish Series I’m Starting Within a Year
Did I do this? Not really. I finished 7 series this year and started 5 of them in 2023. So, I did do it a little but, but keep in mind I started like 30+ series
Goal 5: Buzzwordathon
Yeah, I told you guys I failed this one hard in my 2024 reading goals post. I’m going to try it once more and then quit if I can’t do it. Most of the time, I just forget to check it each month.
New Year’s Book Tag Post
So, I also had some goals on my New Year’s Book Tag post and I want to go ahead and let y’all know how I did. Specifically for the non-reading goals.
The first one was to overcome my executive dysfunction on some level. I really did amazing on this. I have put so much dang work into it, but it’s worth it. What I have done is keep multiple planners to remind me to do things. It’s even color coded! I have areas for reading, homeschool, housework, and even my blog and Booktok stuff. It takes twice as long to make the planner as it does to do the things on it, but I can say it’s worth it in the end.
My second one is actually funny! It was to spend less time on Tik Tok. Well, I did that pretty well until I joined Booktok. I mean, I don’t sit on it all day like I did last year. In 2022, I would open the app and then somehow I was on there for 2 hours without realizing. I added a screen time widget to my phone that I can see every time I unlock it and it helps me to realize when I have used my phone a lot that day.
I just checked and this week I have used Tik Tok for 7 total hours. That’s like 1 hour a day, which is not bad at all. I have still used it a lot, but I no longer scroll for literal hours without realizing.
The last one was pies. I wanted to make a bunch of pies this year and you guys said you’d love to see them when I make them. I made a quiche in January, which I didn’t take a pic of to show you, but I did show you guys my pumpkin-pecan pie from Thanksgiving. I might add this as a goal in the New Years Book Tag I post the first Thursday of 2024 and see how it goes. Since I’m doing The Sunday Post each week, I could easily update you on that one.
That last question on the New Years Book Tag was to list a word that you’re hoping your year will be. I said CALM. That one actually hurts. I had a horrible year, especially toward the first half. It was the bad kind of excitement as always and I’m hoping 2024 will be so much better.
