Alli the Book Giraffe

An autistic book lover

November Wrap Up

Hello readers! It’s time to talk about what I read in November. I also wanted to let you guys know I am also doing Vlogmas on Booktok. Some of the topics will overlap, but not that many.

It was a last minute decision to do it on Booktok unlike on here. I had been planning this for months. I just love this community and I love being on multiple platforms.

Don’t forget I started a book club! You can join and read Assassin’s Blade and/or Fourth Wing with us! I am starting Assassin’s Blade tomorrow and Fourth Wing later in the month.

⭐⭐ (ARC)

I did not start out this month well. War on Chrismtas was supposed to be this brothers-best-friend romance with a witchy FMC.

I guess she was kinda witchy, but not much. The biggest part of the book that was witchy was actually from her brother and not her.

My biggest issue is the FMC. She was so rude and mean to everyone for no reason. She said she wasn’t treated well by her parents, but the only evidence we were given is that she was given a barbie for Christmas when she didn’t want one.

She kept saying no one accepts her and everyone has always been mean to her, but it was the exact opposite. She would say things and expect in her head for people to say mean things to her but they never did. Maybe if I was given more backstory as to why she was so mean I would’ve understood her more.

(ARC) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was my least favorite Antoinette book thus far, but I still really enjoyed it. What made it my least favorite? I didn’t like the third act breakup.

However, I overall liked this book a lot. Each of her books gets more spicy than the previous one! I have no idea if she is planning another book within this universe again, but I’m excited to read anything else she publishes.

We need more smut with plus size women. And, not just plus size women with flat stomachs! Many of us do not look like that.

⭐⭐⭐ & ⭐⭐⭐⭐

These were not ARCs, but I was sent both by the author for review.

They follow two best friends were kidnapped to be trafficked in Mexico and these two mafia bosses of Skulls, who are brothers, rescue them. They don’t believe in trafficking and will rescue anyone their nemesis mafia kidnaps if they come into their territory.

This has been a fun series so far. They are short, fast paced, spicy, and full of characters with big personalities. The two best friends and the brothers end up in romances. I will say, this series (kind of) has the cheating trope.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Such a powerful Autism book. I don’t think books centering Autism are pushed enough by the book community. I actually asked for this ARC because it was about autism.

This person is fired from a gaming company where they worked in the sensitivy area for Autism. They are fired for ‘making others uncomfortable’ and find a new job working with this VR company for autistic people.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a Christmas romance without the HEA. It’s the first in a series with these two characters. One is Rayanne, who has recently escaped an abusive relationship and Caleb, Rayanne’s best friend’s little brother.

They have always been sort of close, but they spend a Christmas together and many feelings come to fruition.

I can’t wait to see what happens with Rayanne and Caleb next. This book is over, but their story is far from it.

(ARC) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a cute roadtrip romance following tow people who are given the same seat on a plane. They sort of become enemies. When the plane lands early because of heavy snow, they rent a car together and venture across the US to their destinations. And, that ending was a TWIST if I’ve ever seen one. I never expect a twist in a contemporary romance and this one really got me.

I loved this book so much. I loved the sort of grumpy/sunshine aspect to it along with the unexpected meeting on the plane. I’ve read a lot of Christmas romances lately and this one sticks out in a great way.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This one follows a blue alien who comes to earth and employs a personal shopper to find him a wife. After reading, I also saw it is connected to a series this author has written. I’ll have to check it out! The aliens in that series are from a different planet than this one.

This is a great place to start if you are looking to get into monster romance. It’s got a contemporary feel with a little bit of scifi to it and the alien in this is very human like, besides the blue skin, of course.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I really enjoyed The Fine Print, but I loved this one even more. Terms and Conditions follows Declan, one of the three bothers, and his assistant who fake marries him.

Declan was even more pig headed and rude than Rowan was. These two drove me crazy in this book. Once one stopped being rude AF, the other started doing it. However, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. This is a popular Booktok series that is so worth it!

⭐⭐⭐

I was so excited for this one and then it just let me down. I was expecting more drama! I mean, she was falling for the brother of a guy she was fake dating. I was expecting more with the family and drama surrounding that. But, this book just wasn’t that.

Also, I wish it weren’t spicy! The spice in this book is so weird and awkward. I skimmed most of it because it was so bad. I think it would’ve been much better as a spice free romance.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was a great end to the series. Although I didn’t love this romance as much as the previous book, I really loved the ending after the romance. We also got to see a peak into the Lakefront Billionaires series that I will absolutely be picking up.

This is a big Booktok series that 100% deserves the type. The overall story with Dreamland was so good. She goes so far as to criticize Disney under the name of Dreamland in multiple books and levels.

Also, I will always praise books with a positive representation of step parents as well. I am a step parent and I feel like we get a bad name in books and movies. So, I can’t complain here.

⭐⭐⭐ (ARC)

This was a stalker romance with a paranormal twist. This vampire was haunting the FMC in her dreams and also stalking her in person.

He goes around killing anyone who does her wrong and kind of ruins her life, in my opinion.

I don’t like that this book had so much cheating in it. She kept doing things with the stalker even though she was with someone the whole time.

Consent was thrown out of the window as well. This vampire guy was so entitled and it was honestly gross.
