Hello readers! This was supposed to be a Blogmas posts, but I started a TON of series this year. As a result, we are doing at least 2 posts of the series I started this year.
I’ll let you guys know whether it was a reread, a series I’m continuing, or if I really don’t think I’ll continue, but I also have a series I’m DNFing post coming next month.

Technically I had already started this series before, but I started my year by restarting this series. I reread 4 of the main books and a few of the novellas before I got distracted, but I’ll finish this series at some point next year.
I did finish it before, but the author added new books on a few years after.

Chunky is a middle grade graphic novel about a kid whose doctor tells him he needs to lose some weight and so he tries to do all these different sports.
This was a cute story, but I don’t think I’ll be going for another book any time soon.

I read two books in this series earlier this year and just forgot to read more. I was really enjoying it! I always see fencing in movies and TV shows, but I have yet to see a piece of media actually explain the sport.
I enjoyed learning about fencing and these characters. Again, I just forgot to continue, but it’ll be on my list of books to read in 2024.

The Wayward Children series is one I had already started before, but decided to reread. I think I had read 4 or 5 before and completely restarted it. Now, I have read all the books that are out and have an ARC for the next book.
After book 9 comes out in January, there will be one more book before it’s done. It’s such a good series with some really good books and some misses, but overall I really love it.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a mystery book that is pretty funny with quite a few twists. However, I don’t really have a want to read the rest of the series.
Most people I’ve seen that have continued the series say book one is the best, so I might as well leave it there for now.

I read 2 out of 3 of the Bill Hodges series earlier this year and just never read book 3. I kind of got fatigued from reading it and hoped to come back to it later.
I will finish out the trilogy early next year so I can read the Holly books next. This series has some amazing autism rep and don’t let any allistic tell you different!

The Empyrean series is one I started from the Reading the Book Communites Best of 2023 (so far). I’m so glad I did that post as I know I wouldn’t have read this book if I didn’t.
I’m going to be rereading it in December and continuing the series for my book club and I can’t wait! I do feel bad for all the people who bought the books this month and got faulty copies. So many books with misprints! I hope they don’t rush the third book like they did with Iron Flame.

I read this one for the same post that I read Fourth Wing. I didn’t like this book and I absolutely will not be continuing it.
I just thought the romance made no sense and the world building was so confusing for me. I couldn’t get into it and I really don’t get the hype.

This one was also for the previous post I mentioned. I loved this book a lot and have an ARC for book 2.
I thought it was going to be a fantasy romance, but it really isn’t one. It has somewhat of one, but it will most likely be more prominent later on. It’s this cozy fantasy yet also very dark and creepy at the same time. I love a book with a good balance.

Now, the Mindf*ck series was such a unique one. It follows this woman who is a serial killer. She has come back to kill a bunch of people who betrayed her and her family when she was a kid. The love interest is an FBI agent and he has no idea.
I recommend tandem reading these. It felt like 5 parts of a bigger story and not 5 books in a series. But, overall it was enjoyable and I really liked it.

This is the one and only book in the series. It follows a woman who is sold to aliens by her boyfriend. When she is auctioned off, the alien vampire buys her and it’s a romance between them.
This one has sort of an insta lust aspect to it, so check it out if you enjoy that! It’s also a POC romance!

I asked for an ARC of this because this cover was so pretty. It’s a mystery romance and I was just disappointing. The mystery aspect just wasn’t good. It was left to the absolute end and it wasn’t even worth the wait.
It had the romance, sure. But, I wanted the mystery and I really didn’t get it.

Shifted is a romance with a crazy paranormal twist at the end. I read this one earlier this year in anticipation for the ARC of book 2 that comes out next month.
I haven’t started book 2 yet, but I’m going to next week some time. This book had a jaw dropping ending with a cliff hanger and I wasn’t happy when I had to wait to read the next one.

I read two books in this series. They are all by different authors and can be read in any order. I read Bound by Honey and Bound by Treason. I liked the characters in Treason more but the plot in Honey more.
They are spice free, cozy fantasy romances that take place in kingdoms in the same universe. I hope to read more of them in 2024 as there are 11 total. I just have to find some time to do it.

I’ve read all four books in this series this year. I don’t know if it’s finished or not, but I enjoyed all of them.
Book 1 is absolutely my favorite book of 2023 by far. I loved it. The characters are amazing, the spice, and the action. I highly recommend this series if you are a dark fantasy romance person or like retellings. I was honestly over retellings before reading this book.
