Alli the Book Giraffe

An autistic book lover

The Sunday Post #13

Hello readers! It’s Sunday again and it’s been two Sundays since I wrote one of these posts. How have you been? A lot has happened in the past two weeks, so let’s catch up! Don’t be afraid to drop your posts at the bottom of mine so I can check them out!

The Sunday Post and the thumbnail I’m using were created by The Caffeinated Reader. In The Sunday Post, you share news each week with your audience. This can be personal, book news, blog news, or anything else you want. Click the creator’s name for more details!

Life Update:

Last week my cousin came down from Colorado that I haven’t seen in many years. We spent the day at one of my aunts house and we went out to eat. My daughter ended up staying the night in order to hang out with his daughter, who is one year younger. He lives in another state, so my daughter and his only see one another once every two years or so.

I reached 700 followers on IG, which was cool. I did a book follow train for the first time and that did help. I’m also almost to 1600 on Tik Tok and hope to do a giveaway once I reach 2k.

Today, I am going to the apple orchard nearby and picking some apples with my cousins and daughter. We will also get some pumpkins there and some ice cream! You know what? One year we got pumpkins from there and decorated them, of course, and we left them outside all winter. The squirrels started eating them and there was a ton of snow that year, so they were very well preserved for them.

One of the squirrels must’ve buried some of the seeds because we had pumpkins growing in our yard the next year. However, they got overrun by squash bugs and we didn’t get to pick any of them. The bugs killed ALL our pumpkins! Did you know pumpkin plants have thorns? I tried to pull the plant out of the ground before we realized it was a pumpkin plant and that was VERY painful.

Reading Update:

I’m currently reading 4 books. 2 are ARCs and 2 are for my post later this year. I am enjoying all of these books except Things We Never Got Over so far. I don’t hate it, but I wish it were much shorter.

I am a bit busy today, but I really want to finish King of Bastards if I can. I have about 100 pages left and I wanna finish it ASAP!

On My Shelf:

Other than The Fine Print and Things We Never Got Over, I have King of Wrath and Sweet Inferno.

I’m hoping to start both of these in the upcoming week. Sweet Inferno is only 100 or so pages, so it won’t take long to get throguh. But, King of Wrath is another, very long romance.

I also have Rat Queens on Hoopla and There’s Someone Inside Your House on Libby.

I have no idea when I will get to these, but I hope it will be at some point this month.

What I Watched:

I have finally reached season 9 of Masterchef, so I’m almost done with my rewatch. I will then be moving back to MAX for some other cooking show. I’m not sure what just yet.

We also watched Three Thousand Years of Longing, which was pretty good. Alithea, the main character, is autistic. I really enjoyed her representation. There was this weird plus size man who was portrayed in a gross way. He had a fat woman fetish and was kinda gross. The fatphobia was a weird add on to the story.

I did love that it wasn’t open ended. I HATE open endings. It will really ruin a story for me and I’m not kidding at all. Open endings are the WORST.
