Alli the Book Giraffe

Hello readers! Today’s post is my TBR for October. I am doing two different readthons this month, which I’m super excited about. I miss doing readathons! I know, I did one in September, but I used to do them almost every month. It just gives me even more motivation to read.

First is the Camp Crystal Lake readathon. I am on team Woodsboro! Here is the LINK to the Woodsboro host video, but there is a video on Booktube for every team. There is Woodsboro from Scream, Crystal Lake from Friday the 13th, Sunnydale from Buffy, Haddonfeild from Halloween, and team Jigsaw from Saw.

What is your favorite horror movie franchise? Mine is Scream, but that is not why I picked that team. I picked it based on the team book, which is usually always how I pick a team on a team-based readathon.

The other readathon is Spookoplathon. This is Bookoplathon, but a spooky version. I LOVE Bookoplathon. It usually takes place each year in September, but the host, Becca, is traveling the world this month. She is honestly my favorite Booktuber as well.

Woodboro prompt 1: 2022 relrelease: a YA Thriller or retelling

I know this book is more pink than purple, but it is the closest to purple that I can get without adding even more books to this TBR!

I know this is a YA thriller and that most people don’t like it, but I’ve always wanted to read it. I’m excited to get to it! I have been getting into YA thrillers a little bit this year, mostly by black authors, but still.

Spookoplathon Roll 2: Stephen King

I read the document on the breakdown of each roll and you don’t have to read a Stephen King book for this. You can, of course. However, the other way the prompt can be interpreted is a royal word in the title like king, which is what I’ve done.

I keep hinting at this post that I’m doing in November and this book is part of it as well. Well, not this book, but another in the series. Have y’all guessed what it is yet? It’s not about Booktok books or popular authors on Booktok, but I might do that as a post, too.

All I know about it is, it’s an arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, and it’s a billionare romance. I haven’t read a billionare romance yet, so I’m not sure how I feel about them.

Spookoplathon Roll 3: Chance

For Chance, I just randomly generated a book from my ARCs for October and early November. I have quite a few to choose from.

I saw this author looking for ARC readers and we are mutuals on Booktok, so I had to go for it. I know it’s a fantasy romance and that’s about it.

Spookoplathon Roll 4: Becca Rec

Now, this book being on Kindle Unlimited was PERFECT for this prompt. Rhapsodic is one of Becca’s favorites and I have wanted to read it for a long time. The only problem for me is that the rest of the series is not on Kindle Unlimted. I’m not sure why.

From Becca, I know this book is about a siren who has taken a lot of debt from the Bargainer. Each bead on her wrist represents one debt she owes to him and one day he comes to collect those debts. It’s also a romance at some point.

Not only is this book part of the post I’m planning for November, it is the biggest book on my Kinlde Unlimited TBR. Why are romance books getting longer and longer? Seriously, this book is almost 600 pages and it’s a contemporary romance!

However, I have wanted to read it, even before I was on Booktok. Can we just talk about for a second how most of the biggest books on Booktok are self published? I love that about it.

Spookoplathon Roll 6: Small Book

I genuinely just looked at my Kindle Unlimited TBR and picked the shorted book on it. It’s 144 pages long and is a paranormal romance between a witch and a wolf shifter.

I’m excited for this series! I know each book only gets bigger, but it’s nice to start out small.

Spookoplathon Roll 7: Spooky

Well, I’m not sure how spooky this is, but I know at least one character is a witch, which is kinda spooky. This is also an ARC and I wanna fit my ARCs onto this TBR.

It’s why choose, it’s friends to enemies to lovers, theres a NB main character and a plus size main character, and I’m excited to try it. I have yet to read a spicy book with a NB character.

Woodsboro prompt 5: Fave movie: read a five star prediction

For this one, I’m picking The Trouble With Christmas by Loren Sorensen. This book doesn’t have a cover yet, but comes out in the midde of October. I applied for this book because it’s a Chirstmas romance. I am LOVING those right now. I just love Christmas in general because it’s my favorite holiday.

Woodsboro prompt 2: Sidney Prescott: Read a book with a Bad Ass Female Character

I don’t know why, but this prompt was really hard for me to fill. So, I just defaulted back to a series I know and love well, Night Huntress. I know for certain that this FMC is kick ass.

This is the 5th book in the Night Huntress series and will be a reread, but I’ve been rereading it very slowly all year long for the new books in the series I haven’t read yet.

Woodsboro prompt 3: Multiple Movies: Continue a series.

This is the sequel to Sweet Inferno. It is double the page length, but I don’t mind. This one also follows a witch, but the love interest is a witch hunter of some sort.

Woodsboro prompt 6: Mindf*ck: Read a book with mental health rep

This one was also tricky. I looked into the triggers and this one does have rep for depression and alcoholism, so I believe it counts.

This is another one for that post I’m doing in November and is the first in a billionaire romance trilogy. Each one follows a different brother looking for love.

This one didn’t fit into any prompts, but I do need to read it in October. A Conduit of Light is an ARC that comes out on November 1st. I have a couple other ARCs, but this will be the last one I mention.

From what she has said, it is a slow paced fantasy book following a woman who finds a stone embedded into a tree which unlocks a bunch of memories of her past that she has to face. It’s also spicy to some compacity.

I’d also LOVE to fit this one in at some point. It comes out in October, but I don’t have an ARC or anything. It’s a series of monster romance short stories and I’m super excited to try it. I’ve read from 3 of the authors before and I’m interested in more from all of them.
