Hello readers! It’s time for another Stacking the Shelves. I don’t have a designated day of the week for this, so it may just be sporadic. This week, I have 10 different Kindle books to talk about. I didn’t get any physical books this week, but I’ve been getting a ton Kindle books, including some ARCs.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. You can click the link to get all the details, but in short, it is for sharing your new books!

Fawn and Foe is an ARC that I received from the author. I have a few in this post! It comes out on the 25th.
We follow a vampire/fae King named Barrette who is injured in the forest by an enemy, but it nursed back to health by a fawnie (PLUS SIZE) woman.
This was honestly one of my favorite books of 2023, and I’m not just saying that because I got it as an ARC.
I would rate it a 3 on the spice scale. I loved both Barrette and the love interest Hazel, along with the side characters, one of which is NB. This is the type of book I was dreading finishing because I was enjoying it so much.

I received Bound by Honey as an ARC and decided to continue on with the series. I also got Kindle Unlimited recently and this entire series is on there. This is also the last book to be published in the 11 book series and they can be read in ANY order. It came out on the 11th, so you can read it now if you’re interested!
This is a cozy fantasy series with a little bit of romance, all by different authors. Bound by Honey is enemies to lovers and Bound by Treason is a bodyguard romance.
If you like low stakes fantasy books with mages, gargoyles, and dragons, check out Bound by Honey. I’ll be making my way through this series over the next couple of months.

In my previous response, I described a lawyer named Sam Trask who faces a grave threat to his family. After overcoming personal struggles, Sam’s life is seemingly back on track until someone from his past resurfaces. As the danger intensifies, Sam grapples with the decision of whether to take matters into his own hands or rely on the legal system to protect his loved ones.
This book was on Amazon for free the other day, so I decided to check it out. It’s also available on KU, but I can’t pass up a free copy!

In a dark and thrilling story, a group of interconnected individuals faces a deadly game orchestrated by a mysterious hacker, who selected them based on their sins. Striving to survive and reclaim their lives, they must navigate trials and overcome challenges, even as they grapple with their own personal demons.
This book was also free on Amazon. I’m in this book club on Discord and we have a whole section where people share free books. I’m gonna have plenty of thrillers to choose from during the spooky season!

I received an ARC of Emily Wild’es Map of the Otherlands on Netgally. This one comes out in January! I read book one for this post called Reading the Book Communites Best of 2023 (so far). I hadn’t even heard of Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries before doing that post and I’m so glad I found it.
I’m probably going to slowly read this or wait till closer to the release date. It feels so weird to read it this soon! Let me know if you are excited for this one!
Synopsis (book 1): Cambridge professor Emily Wilde, an expert on faerie lore, struggles with social interactions but excels in her research. When she arrives in the village of Hrafnsvik, she encounters Wendell Bambleby, a charming rival who disrupts her work. As Emily investigates the secrets of the Hidden Ones and the mysterious forest, she becomes entangled in a quest to discover the true intentions of Wendell Bambleby. Along the way, she must also unravel the enigma of her own heart.

Here is another ARC i got this month. This was a book unlike any other I have read. It’s this smutty novella between an Indian woman sold to aliens by her boyfriend and this vampire alien who buys her.
If you are looking for a short book that is more smut than plot, basically spice from beginning to end, try this one out! Also, the banter between the MCs because of the cultural differences is pretty hilarious.
It comes out on the 4th of September and will be on KU! The next book in the series will be about a werewolf alien.

Shifted is the first book in the Shifted series. I signed up to be an ARC reader for the sequel earlier this month, so I had to read the first one! She ended up sending me a copy, but I borrowed it on KU anyways. I was thinking, why not let her make a little money while I read?
Anyhow, Shifted follows a woman named Jacey who is challenged by her best friend Leon to say yes to the next 5 men who ask her out on dates and we follow her doing just that. It’s also paranormal in some way, but I don’t know when that will be happening.
This book has very little spice, but the author has said each book in the series will be more spicey than the last.

I received Buried Roots as an ARC from BookSirens. This one follows a woman who has inherited a huge property and house from people she doesn’t know. Her birth parents are a mystery to her and her adoptive parents are also dead, so they can’t help her.
I am about 60% through this one. It has a little bit of spice, which I just got to. However, I don’t think it needs it. I am more interested in the dynamic of everyone in this town and the mystery of her past. It has those small town vibes of a cozy mystery and I want more focus on the actual mystery. However, I’m still enjoying it.
Buried Roots comes out on September 5th and will be on KU, if you are interested.

I also borrowed this one on KU as it is super popular on Booktok. A lot of the biggest books over there are on KU, which is awesome.
I’ve only read 2 chapters so far and it has been crazy. That 2nd chapter was hella violent. This book literally has a warning page at the beginning because it’s so messed up. IDK if I’ll read it all the way through or how I’ll feel, but I’m gonna try it.
