Personal Life
Wow, a lot has happened in these last two weeks. MY FREAKING POWER WENT OUT again. This time it wasn’t because of a wind storm. I seriously become quite panicked when it starts storming outside because of the outage we had at the end of June. Almost a month later, it goes out again. This time it was only for about 12 hours, which was amazing. It is TOO HOT to be without power again. I’m not gonna lie, I had a small panic attack when the power went out. At that moment, I thought I’d be without power again for 3 days. However, it was back in the same day and everything was fine.
My husband got another promotion! I don’t think I ever said, but my husband started a new job at McDonalds back in June. About a week later, he got a promotion to a crew trainer. Last week, he finished his training as a crew trainer and was promoted yet again to a manager. He will be a manager in training until mid-September.
I made a Booktok since my last post as well. I almost hit 500 followers in 7 days (I was at 493)! There are way too many misconceptions around Booktok. It is very welcoming over there! If you have a booktok, let’s be moots. I actually made multiple videos over there about my post coming out tomorrow. I read 5 books for my post tomorrow, including Fourth Wing.
The last thing that happened is, I found out one of my hermit crabs died. I had my biggest hermit crab, Sebastian, since May of 2022. My mom found him in a tarantula tank on a sidewalk. Someone had abandoned him. I have no idea of his age, but I am guessing he is around 10 because he’s pretty large. We got him a bigger tank in the autumn/fall (he wasn’t in the tarantula tank) and bought him 2 tiny tank mates in December.
We ended up naming the 2 newer ones Olive and Sheldon. Not long after getting them, all my crabs went underground to molt. Sheldon had been under since. He isn’t a big crab, so that isn’t normal! Well, I was afraid to check until we started having a really bad ant problem this year. Has anyone else been battling ants this year like no other year before? If you bother a crab during the molting process, they can lose limbs or even die.
I found out the ants infiltrated my hermit crab tank and ants can kill hermit crabs. I had to empty the entire tank and finally found my crab that had been under since January. I only knew him for a month or so, but it’s still so sad he died. I have no idea what happened to cause his death.

Reading Update
I’m hoping to finish Tress of the Emerald Sea tomorrow. I wanted it to be my last book of July. It is not part of my post for tomorrow.
This is secret prject number one for this year. I already read secret project 2 this month and am pretty close to getting book 3 on Libby. I didn’t think I’d get to tall of these this month, but I really hope I can.
Do you think all of these books will be on the Goodreads Choice Awards? I think secret project 2 is more of a scifi, so I’d be cool to see Sanderson in that category.
On My Shelf
I have a lot on myself this week because I wanted to use up all my Hoopla holds before the end of the month. If you don’t have Hoopla, you can only check out 10 items a month. The 10 resets every month and does not carry over. However, if you use up all your 10 spots at the end of the month, they don’t count toward the next month.
I want to read something else by Rebcca Yarros after reading Fourth Wing and the Mindf*ck series is huge on Booktok. I have to make my way through the biggest Booktok books!
What I Watched Last Week
On Thursday, I watched The Blackening with my husband. I thought it was really good! It’s a horror movie following a group of black friends, but there is some humor as well.
We have still been watching Naruto Shippuden. We are currently on season 12. I started Naruto at 12 and still at 29 haven’t made my way through Shippuden yet. I’m just excited to get to Boruto! Then, I am going to convince my husband to watch Bleach with me, as that is my all-time favorite anime.
By myself, I’ve been watching The Great Food Truck Race. I’ve watched it all before, but I’m rewatching it and am on season 5. I love rewatching cooking/baking competition shows! I might go back and rewatch Great British Baking show next. I’ve already rewatched Hell’s Kitchen and Masterchef in the last year.
