The Sunday Post #3

Hello readers! Welcome to my first Sunday Post of July. I apoligize for the chaos on this post. I had a crazy week.

My schedule is super packed this month for posts. If I do WWW Wednesday, I’ll have a post every single day in July. I’m just feeling very motivated to blog lately.

The Sunday Post and the thumbnail I’m using were created by The Caffeinated Reader.

In The Sunday Post, you share news each week with your audience. This can be personal, book news, blog news, or anything else you want. Click the creator’s name for more details!

Personal Life

Well, it has been one crazy week. I am writing this at 4am right now. I lost power on Thursday, when this giant storm came through with 80 mph winds. I got this emergency notice on my phone 5 minutes before it happened, so we had no time to prepare at all. I was without power for almost 60 hours! In my 29 years on this earth, I haven’t gone more than 24 hours without power.

That wasn’t even the worst part! I also have a well, so I had no water for 60 hours either. Additionally, most people’s phones went out where I live. I couldn’t use the data on my phone, call, or even text people until Saturday evening.

Y’all would not believe how fast I jumped out of bed at 230 am when my power came on. I was asleep and jumped up so dang fast. My house was 80 to 90 degrees for almost the whole time and I felt disgusting without a shower for that long while I was constantly sweating. I spent most of my time fanning the dogs because they were suffering the absolute worst.

On the Blog Last Week

Tuesday – Tell Me Something Tuesday

Wednesday – July TBR

Thursday – Never Have I Ever Book Tag

Friday – Let’s Talk Bookish

Coming Up This Week

Monday is my June Wrap Up, Tuesday is the first of three posts discussing books I was required to read in school, Thursday is the In or Out book tag, Friday is a Let’s Talk Bookish posts, and Saturday is a New Release Saturday.

Reading Update

I haven’t read much this week. I started A Court of Silver Flames! However, I only read 2 chapters. I was so miserably hot that I couldn’t focus much on it.

Before my power went out, I was reading What Happened to Rachel Riley. This is a middle grade book about a girl named Anna who attends a new school. Everyone there hates Rachel and she is investigating why.

There is a scene in this where a boy snaps the bra strap of a girl and that unlocked some memories from middle school for me. This entire book is about sexual harassment in middle school and how normalized it is. I forgot any of that happened to girls around me!

On My Shelf This Week

On Libby, the only other book I have is End of Watch. I have one other book I want to get to before reading it, but it’s coming up soon on the TBR.

What I Watched This Week

Before the power went out, I was still watching Naruto Shippuden with my husband. We were watching Naruto when the power went out. I think we are on season 5 at this point. I also started watching Sailor Moon. I never got into it as a kid and I’m making up for it now! I want to start watching an episode or two each night until I finish it.

The last thing I started was Summer Baking Championship. I’m so happy they made a summer version! Does anyone watch those shows? I really don’t care for the Halloween one, but I am caught up on all the others.

New Releases Coming Out This Week

If you didn’t see my post, yesterday I started a new series called New Release Saturday. It’s where I talk about new releases on Saturday that come out in the next week. Most of you guys voted last week that you wanted a unique post of new releases and I’m going to deliver for you!

As a result, this segment will no longer be in The Sunday Post!

  1. so glad you have power back! We get hurricanes where I live and the extended power outage afterward is horrific in summer heat

    1. I would not wish a multiple day outage in the summer on my worst enemy!

      1. it’s horrible. luckily you know the hurricanes are coming. Even if it’s not a super strong one, some people evacuate for that reason alone: the inconvenience of the power outage.
