Auto Buy Authors + An Announcement

Hello readers! Today I wanted to make a fun list of 6 auto buy authors. These are authors I would buy or read anything they write, without even knowing what it is about. These are authors that I have loved books by before and just know I will most likely love whatever they write in the future.

I also have a really fun announcement! I have started a book club with some people on Twitter called the Eerie Queer Book Club. It is a book club centered around LGBT horror books. The first book will be in October and we’ll be reading Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth. CLICK HERE to follow us and keep an eye out for more information.

Sophie Kinsella

I started reading Sophie Kinsella back in 2016. At the time, I didn’t really read any type of romance or contemporary books. For some reason, I just really loved her books.

Since then, I have read over 10 of her books and only dislike one, which is Twenties Girl. I think those are pretty good odds for me. I’ve been making my way through her Shopaholic series these past 2 years and I hope to read many more of her books after I finish that series this year.

Elizabeth Acevedo

I read all 3 of Acevedo’s books in 2020 and I truly wish she had more books! It is a true tragedy to discover an author you love that doesn’t have many books out. Her books just speak to me.

In Poet X, I really related to the MC. I think most anyone would who has been a teen girl in their lifetime. I think her representation of teen pregnancy was amazing in With the Fire on High (plus it’s a foodie book). For Clap When You Land, I have experienced a parental death and now enjoy reading books with that topic, even if the way the parent died is completely different.

Acevedo just brings light to subjects that need to be known more and I love that about her books.

Sarah J. Maas

If you had asked me even one year ago if I would become a SJM fan, I surely wouldn’t have laughed. The shear amount of hatred of her and her books kept me away from them for a LONG time.

I read ACOTAR around this time last year and I thought it was okay. I totally get all the criticisms of Feyre being a dumb character in that book. However, I think Feyre turned her act around in the rest of the series!

After reading House of Earth and Blood, I think she was solidified as a favorite author. I just can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.

Stephen King

I feel like if you’ve been here for any amount of time, you know I love Stephen King’s books. I haven’t read any in 2021, which is so odd. However, he is the author that got me into reading and I own a ton of his books.

Please let me know if you are interested in a Stephen King centered post! I have almost done one so many times, but always cancel if for one reason or another.

Lisa Jewell

At this point I’ve read 4 of Jewell’s books. I really didn’t like Watching You, which is the last one I read by her. HOWEVER, I loved all the other books so far.

I really love the format in thrillers where there are 3 (or more) POVs and 1 (or more) is in a different timeline. She isn’t the only author who has done this, but all the books I’ve read by her have that format of storytelling.

Brandon Sanderson

I have read 6 books by Sanderson now and plan to keep reading through his books. ACTUALLY, at the very end of August, I found this readalong called the Sanderfan readalong that has been reading through the Cosmere. They decided to start reading his books outside of the Cosmere starting October (in September they are reading White Sand). I’m really excited to try some of his books outside of the Cosmere along with them because I have only read within it.

I am not a fan of hard scifi, but I’m still going to try Skyward and all his other books, just to see how I like them… or not.

  1. I don’t know that I have a ton of autobuy authors, but I do have auto-read authors like Gillian Flynn and Kara Thomas. Your Twitter book clubs sounds so fun. I have Plain Bad Heroines that I still need to read too!
